LANGUAGE - MAGIC-E WORDS

A hands-on phonics game that helps children understand the powerful role of the silent “E” in transforming words. By visually and actively building new words, children grasp how vowel sounds change—making reading and spelling both fun and meaningful.

4 to 8 years

Pack Includes:

• 24 Cards with 3-letter words and corresponding images
• 24 Alphabet “E” Cards with transformed words and matching images
  

How to play:

• The child picks a 3-letter word card (e.g., cap, pin, tub) and reads it aloud.
• The child then searches for the correct “Magic E” card that can be paired with the base word.
• On matching, the child adds the “E” to form a new word (e.g., cape, pine, tube).
• The child applies the Magic “E” rule—where the vowel says its name—and reads the new word.
• The image on the “E” card helps the child verify the word formation and pronunciation independently.
  

Game Extensions:

• Ask the child to use both words (cap → cape) in simple sentences.
• Sort words based on vowel sounds (long vs short).
• Encourage the child to think of more Magic “E” words beyond the cards.
