LANGUAGE - LETTER SOUND MATS

A hands-on phonics activity designed to help children connect letters with their beginning sounds through play. With visual cues, tactile alphabet pieces, and writing practice, this activity builds a strong foundation for early reading and writing skills.

3 to 6 years

Pack Includes:

• 6 mats with 12 images of various objects (A5 Size) and 6 writing mats.
• Mini Wooden Alphabets and a dry-erase pen.

How to play:

• This activity can be explored in multiple ways:

  1. Sound Matching

  • The child needs to identify each object on the mat and its beginning sound.
  • The child then places the correct alphabet piece on the corresponding image.

  2. Alphabet Hunt

  • The child picks an alphabet piece and searches for objects on the mat that begin with that sound.
  • The child then matches the alphabet to the correct image.

  3. Write & Practice

  • The child uses the writing mats and dry-erase pen to write the identified alphabet.

• Sort objects by the same beginning sound across mats
• Say the word aloud and break it into sounds
